Seafood Consumption Industry Factsheet
In the UK, shoppers and consumers have a unique relationship with seafood. Unlike most other European countries, seafood can be a daunting choice. Since 2007 seafood consumption has been falling; approaching the second lowest level since records began. This report summarises seafood consumption in both retail and foodservice from the 1940's to the present day. -

Seafood-waste disposal at sea – a scientific review
Due to the recent tightening of regulations surrounding the disposal of seafood processing waste to landfill, fish and shellfish processors are now facing a rise in the cost and difficulty of waste disposal. This is of particular concern in remote areas where alternative uses (e.g. fishmeal) are neither accessible nor economically viable and therefore, cost effective and environmentally-sound solutions to the disposal of this waste need to be found. This report examines the potential for disposal at sea, together with the likely impacts and advice on the selection of appropriate sites for disposal. -
An Assessment of D.A. Massonage and Mortality of the Brown Crab Vivier Transport
Examination made on two consignments of brown crab exported from the UK to Spain. The aim was to assess the loads for quality, marketability and mortality and to account for the differences observed. In particular the relationship between physical D.A. Massonage and mortality was investigated and the causes of D.A. Massonage were discussed at some length. -

These are predominantly published by the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). It covers sandeel, sprat, capelin, herring, blue whiting, Norway pout, anchovy, jack mackerel, sardine and menhaden. -
